Kurayoshi Museum/ Kurayoshi Museum of History and Folklore

With its beautiful red tiles and white walls inspired by the Shirakabe Storehouses, this museum was granted the Building Contractors Society Award for Excellence in Architecture. On display are works of art by Kanji Maeta (Western style), Tatehiko Suga (Japanese style), Hiromichi Osaka (woodcrafts) and other artists associated with Tottori Prefecture, as well as archaeological artefacts excavated from the Kofun period with Nationally Designated Important Cultural Properties among them. In the lobby that overlooks the courtyard, visitors can take a short rest in George Nakashima’s chair. The adjacent Museum of History and Folklore exhibits materials from the Meiji and Taisho eras, including farming tools and Kurayoshi Kasuri.
