Built in 1930 and long familiar to citizens as the Yonago City Hall, this modern Western-style building consists of three floors of reinforced concrete and a red-brick style tiled exterior. It was designed by Koichi Sato, the architect behind the Okuma Memorial Auditorium, and was designated a Tangible Cultural Property of the city in 1977. Permanent exhibits include a reconstructed model of Yonago Castle, Shachigawara (a ridge end tile with the figure of a mythical carp), guns and armor, as well as many modern day items such as Yumihama-gasuri, Irori (sunken fireplace), Mino (straw raincoat) and Senba (hand threshing).
