  • Savor all the charms
    in Tottori

  • If you want to savor all the charms Tottori has to offer, this is the perfect course for you. Along the route, you will find Tottori’s top tourist attractions like the Tottori Sand Dunes and the Mizuki Shigeru Road, as well as many hot springs. Must-try local foods include gyukotsu (beef bone broth) ramen and fresh seafood from the Sea of Japan.

The eastward route starts at JR Sakaiminato Station. It is 15 minutes by train from Yonago Kitaro Airport. Sakaiminato boasts the largest landing volume of red snow crab in Japan. Close to this spot is Mizuki Shigeru Road, where you can enjoy the world of manga artist Shigeru Mizuki populated by his bizarre “yokai” creatures.

Yumigahama Coast, a beautiful coastline stretching about 20 km, was selected among Japan’s top 100 scenic beaches. Enjoy a refreshing ride surrounded by sprawling white sand beaches and lush pine groves. Here, the cycling course goes on and on along the seemingly endless sand beaches. Bike racks and other facilities are provided along the way for the convenience of cyclists.

There are many hot springs along the route, including Kaike Onsen, Hawai Onsen, Togo Onsen, and Shikano Onsen, where you can take a dip to refresh yourself and soak away your fatigue from cycling all day. Free foot baths are also recommended. Cog Station Kaike is a bike rental station located inside Yonago City Tourist Center, a tourist hub of Kaike Onsen.

This is a unique beach located to the west of Kotoura Coast where oval stones are jostled by the waves and make clunking sounds. Beautiful views that change by the season and time of day spread before the beach, such as sprawling sunflower fields and a beautiful sunset.

There are many cyclist-friendly cafes with secure bicycle transportation capabilities along the route. At Roadside Station Port Akasaki, you can savor a rice bowl topped with fresh, locally-caught seafood, Tottori’s popular gyukotsu (beef bone broth) ramen, and other dishes.

Beautiful beaches like Hawai Beach stretch along the coastline of the central part of the prefecture (Yurihama-cho, etc.), offering spectacular views. Togo is famous for its production of Nijisseiki pears, one of Tottori Prefecture’s signature products.

Hakuto Shrine is famous for its association with the myth of the White Rabbit of Inaba, a tale contained in Japan’s oldest literary work called Kojiki. This shrine is also known for its matchmaking benefits

Tottori Sand Dunes feature a natural beauty created by sand and wind over many years. The sand dunes are also part of the Sanin Kaigan National Park. Here, you can enjoy numerous activities like paragliding, fat biking, and camel riding.

The Uradome Coast area of the Sanin Kaigan Geopark features a scenic ria coastal inlet. The view from the Shirawara Observation Deck is truly stunning. You can also hop on a cruiser to see cave mouths, caves, and the clear blue sea up close.

The eastward route ends at Higashihama Station, a small unmanned station. A white sand beach and cobalt blue sea open up before your eyes as you walk through the station entrance with a mirrored ceiling.
